Larnaca Airport Terminal

The Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 forced to close down Nicosia International Airport. Under this context, Larnaca Airport was mere developed when the coup d’état occurred. Larnaca Airport was built nearby Larnaca Salt Lake and previously used as an airfield by the British Air Forces in 1930.

Since the partition of the island, Larnaca Airport has been the busiest airport in Cyprus and the main international gateway of the country.

Nowadays, Larnaca Airport is an airline hub between Europe, Africa, Russia and the Middle East. Currently, it has a single passenger terminal and hosts regional, domestic and international flights with over 30 airlines serving it.

Levels

Larnaca Airport Terminal has 2 levels. They are distributed as it follows:

- Level 1: The Arrivals Hall. Find in this level ground transportation options, car rental booths, taxi ranks, the baggage claim area, passport control, information booth, toilets, tour operators, a car parking facing the main terminal entrance, customs, currency exchange booth, connecting fights, Cyprus Tourism Organization office, and other amenities such as restaurants, shops, public telephones and lifts to the upper level.

- Level 2: The Departures Hall. Find in this level the Departures Hall and access to the boarding gates. It is a bottle shaped large level, where the inferior sector which is located before getting through security and connected to the main car park facing the entrance. Find in this sector the following services to passengers: Currency exchange, check-in hall and kiosks, information booth, ground transportation options, ticket sales booth, disabled services, car rental booths, toilets, post office and public telephones. After clearing security there is a commercial hall (shops and restaurants) and access to a large corridor where boarding gates 21 to 48 are located. Toilets and lifts to access to the lower level are also available.

There is also a second terminal, which is a VIP terminal and is exclusively for private aviation and cargo.
